Janet Naylor is a talented Celtic harpist who has gained recognition as a teacher, composer, and solo performer through her mastery and personal commitment to authentic musical traditions. Her harp music is beautiful, as she uses the traditional techniques of early Celtic harpists.
Janet draws harpers from all over the Northwest to the Eugene area, where she teaches harp, and organizes workshops and other events for harpers. Not only does she research ancient musical scores and styles, she often performs in medieval costume, which adds an authentic flavor to her performance.
She also plays with Americanistan, a Eugene-based group that plays music inspired by cultures of the Middle East and Mediterranean. She plays the kanoon, a 76-stringed plucked zither found throughout the Middle East.
